The clan temple was the highlight of the visit to the clan compound. The main entrance was off of Beach St. a small tunnel was filled with introductory storyboards to the clan, history and of the buildings themselves. The tunnel opened up to a a row of clan houses that were all undergoing renovations. Peeking inside looked to be very modern decor. The ticket window was in the last house. A sticker was provided as the ticket and just had to be visibly placed. A small altar was accessible after entering the compound. An open air stage was located across from the clan temple and was also elaborately decorated. The main star was the clan temple. On the first floor was a kitchen and the museum portion that contained the chronology of the Khoo clan from its founding, details about the temple construction and features plus more. Upstairs were multiple rooms each with their own altars and overall were ornately decorated with carvings, paintings and engravings. The veranda also was amazing with similar attention to the decor and styling. Do look up to the ceiling and the roof too outside as nothing was overlooked with the attention to details. A must see in my opinion when in Penang.
