Two beautiful buildings, two city administration buildings – a classic example of the majestic colonial architecture of Penang. It is impossible to miss them. City Hall and Town Hall. One way or another, you will stroll along the embankment and pay attention to City Hall. The end of the Victorian architectural tradition in England was echoed here, in the English possessions at that time, with literally an architectural masterpiece – this building. The City Hall building was built in 1903. Tall narrow arches with a typical English lattice, snow-white columns – everything in this two-story building recalls the strong British influence in the architecture of the island. At one time, the cost of building City Hall was estimated at one hundred thousand dollars. In front of the buildings there is a large green area where locals like to have picnics, play with children, and go jogging. When I was here, some grandiose event was being prepared. Numerous awnings were deployed and installed. I was told that all more or less significant city events are held here.
