Very nice building. Reconstructed, unfortunately, with expansion and an attempt to preserve the old facade. There is a facade, but the extension is not at all similar to the main building. The first half of the building at the junction of Light Street and Penang Street was designed by Chew Eng Im and completed in 1928, while the second half, the west wing at the junction of Light Street and King Street, was designed later in the Art Nouveau style. I didn’t like this very modernism at all. The building houses the Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce (PCCC), founded in 1903, which was one of the first systematic trade and industry organizations to emerge in Penang.
